Spring has arrived! Slowly but surely, trees are budding, temperatures are rising, and flowers are blooming. Before you know it, you’ll be applying sunscreen and hunting for your sunglasses. But before that day comes, be sure to take a little time to appreciate the joys of this bountiful season. There are so many lovely ways to celebrate spring.

Ways to Celebrate Spring

Go for a stroll in the park.

If you attempt any of the ideas on this list, why not make it this one? A simple stroll in the park is an ideal way to see what spring has to offer. After a long winter, you can appreciate the leaves on the trees, the green grass, the blooming flowers, the chirping birds, and perhaps even some ducklings!

Care for a houseplant or flower.

Whether you have a green thumb or not, why not plant something this spring? You could keep it simple and purchase a no-fuss houseplant at the store, or be more ambitious by planting some flowers or herbs from seed packets or bulbs. Spring is all about rebirth and revitalization, so watching a plant grow from a seedling is a perfect way to celebrate the season.

Follow March Madness.

Most of our ideas revolve around nature, but for some people, the best thing about spring is basketball – namely, the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament, also known as March Madness. Whether you’re a basketball aficionado or a low-key fan, let yourself get wrapped up in the excitement of March Madness this year.

Paint or take photos of spring scenery.

The beauty of spring is certainly inspiring: colorful tulips and daffodils, lush grass, hopping rabbits, vivid sunrises, and so much more. Try to capture this beauty on a canvas. Even if you’re not an experienced artiste, the process will likely be fun and relaxing. If you’re not interested in painting, you could also try photographing your favorite spring sights. When you’re finished, send them to friends and family to share your love of spring.

Open your windows.

As soon as the temperature is warm enough, open your windows! Let in a fresh breeze. The ventilation will refresh your home, and you may be able to hear a wind chime or birds chirping.

Go birding.

Speaking of birds, now that many birds have returned from their winter migration, go outside and appreciate them! Take your binoculars and try to identify the feathered friends you spot.

Press some flowers or leaves.

While you’re outside, if you have access to some flowers or other plants, why not pick a few particularly beautiful blossoms or leaves to press? You could purchase a flower press for this purpose, or simply place the bloom in the pages of a heavy book with some extra books on top for added weight. Note that the moisture of the flower will cause the pages to wrinkle, so it’s best to use a book you don’t mind damaging a little. In addition, it’s best to place the flower between two pieces of clean paper and change the paper out every few days to remove excess moisture. In two to three weeks, the flower should be completely dry. You might wish to frame it or use it for a craft project (but be careful – it will be extremely delicate!).

Dine al fresco.

When the weather allows for it, eat outside! If you have the time and resources, a picnic would be lovely, but don’t discount the simple joy of taking your coffee and breakfast outside to enjoy the morning sun.

Eat delicious spring produce.

Some of the most scrumptious produce is harvested in springtime, including strawberries, asparagus, peas, and rhubarb. While these fruits and veggies are at their peak, incorporate them into your meals. You could dine on strawberry shortcake, pasta with asparagus and peas, or rhubarb pie.
